Valley Below is an original mash-up of all the great American music traditions: country, blues, gospel, rock, bluegrass, soul, and everything in between. It’s groovy, it’s fun, it’s fresh and a little weird sometimes–a good mix of originals, deep covers, and songs you know.

Bio

Valley Below has been playing music in and around Fairbanks and Alaska in one form or another since 2015. Through several changes in personnel and a pandemic, the band carries on with a unique sound that blends the diverse backgrounds of each of its band members–from bluegrass to blues and gospel to rock.

Long Description

Valley Below, based out of Fairbanks, Alaska, is an original mash-up of all the great American music traditions: country, blues, gospel, rock, bluegrass, soul, and everything in between. It’s groovy, it’s fun, it’s fresh and a little weird sometimes–a good mix of originals, deep covers, and songs you know.

Valley Below has been gigging around Alaska at festivals and bars for just shy of a decade. Its members include veterans of the local Fairbanks music scene with decades of gigging with rock, bluegrass, blues, country, and Americana bands.

George Gianakopoulos on upright bass and Josh Paul on drums hold down the rhythm section alongside Jeremiah Bakken’s unique electric guitar sound and Caitlin Frye’s velvety vocals.

Recorded Music

Valley Below has recorded one album called Time to Let Go that was released in 2023. It was recorded and mixed in Fairbanks, Alaska at 10th Planet Studios with additional recording at Valcour Records in Eunice, Louisiana.

All song lyrics and music were written by Caitlin Frye. The music for Step Right In was co-written by Jeremiah Bakken.

The album is available on all streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Amazon.
